The Fast Track Your Career event in Colac brought more than 50 people looking for work together with 11 local employers and a range of support services for a fast paced, high impact networking experience.
Paul Watkins opened the day with an energy filled presentation on confidence, resilience and taking charge of your own story — drawing on his experiences as both a global adventurer and stay-at-home dad.
His message set the tone for an event that quickly exceeded expectations, with last minute registrations filling the room to standing capacity. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with most employers and attendees leaving with a clear plan or next step toward employment.
The results reflected the event’s strong impact: 56 registrations with 90% attendance plus walk-ins, 11 employers across key industries, five job offers, more than 20 job applications, and extensive new connections between exhibitors, RTOs and community organisations. Many participants identified new courses, support services and volunteer opportunities to explore. Based on the success of the Colac event and the enthusiasm from employers and community members alike, similar Fast Track Your Career events are now planned for Portland (2025), Hamilton and Warrnambool.
