Trades and Tech Fit Expo; a Neil Porter Legacy day out.

The Local Jobs Program – South Coast celebrates organisations creating meaningful career connections for young people. In June, The Neil Porter Legacy supported girls and gender-diverse students from the Warrnambool region to broaden their horizons through a hands-on Melbourne experience.

A group of 116 students, 17 teachers and support staff from nine South Coast of Vic schools attended the Trades and Tech Fit Expo, exploring emerging technologies and connecting with industry representatives.

The experience continued at the Western Renewables Link and AusNet offices, where students met female professionals working in trades and STEM. Through presentations and a Q&A session, students gained insight into career pathways, daily work life and the opportunities these industries offer.

These real-world conversations helped transform career ideas into achievable goals, demonstrating the powerful impact of exposure and connection.

The Local Jobs Program acknowledges The Neil Porter Legacy, Department of Education, AusNet and Western Renewables Link for supporting initiatives that inspire the region’s future workforce. We are honoured to share the work of the Neil Porter Legacy, a valuable contributor in the local network of organisations driving change and greater connectedness across our Region.
